Since then, the field has progressed with remarkable momentum. In recent years, Virgin Galactic, Blue Origin, and SpaceX have all conducted manned missions involving private citizens. Blue Origin’s New Shepard carried its first civilian crew in 2021, while SpaceX’s Inspiration4 mission took civilians on a multi-day orbital flight, marking a significant leap from suborbital tourism.

Just as hotels on Earth must comply with consumer protection laws, health and safety regulations, and non-discrimination statutes, space hotels must also uphold legal standards for guest welfare—adapted to the unique circumstances of zero gravity, confined spaces, and extraterrestrial risk.   4.
